Here it is another presidential election year with some Primaries and Caucuses already over and done with, others still yet to come. With this, we have to step back from the trivial, childish, simple-minded and naïve propaganda pieces and soundbites that seem to bombard us at every turn and ask ourselves honestly just where we choose to stand this time around. Are you taken in by the establishment’s (and their unwitting followers’) age-old lies when they tell you that “A vote for ______ is a vote for ______ because there is no way they can win!” or “I have to settle for the lesser of the two evils because we would be much worse off if ______ wins”? I would venture to say that even if we are at a point in our lives in which we have figured out for ourselves that these are indeed LIES that they are working to propagate, we have to some degree in the past been tempted to give in to this line of (non)thinking…and maybe have given in to them and voted for John McCain just because I didn’t want my vote for ______ to be a vote for Barry Soetoro Hussein Obama, albeit indirectly (whatever that means).
All lies and the sleeping masses unable to think for themselves continue to fall for it every election cycle- if they’re even paying attention at all! Take a look at Facebook or whatever your social media outlet of choice might be and tell me what your “friends” spend the most time posting.
If you’re like me, you have a select few fb friends who work feverishly to dig, research and bring to light precious truths that you and they hope might- just might- wake someone up somewhere. But the overwhelming majority are posting nonsense that only adds to the distractions and diversions and work to keep those who “follow” them dumbed down and unable to conjure even the smallest flicker of critical thought that they might otherwise be capable.
Is this the new norm that you have agreed to? Will you contribute to it or will you take opportunity to be the exception not just as it pertains to social media, but in all interactional opportunities that are presented to you?
Three things are at the center of my life and influence each and every decision I make every day: my God, my family and the principles upon which my country was founded- which I believe take my back to my number one priority: my God. Everything else is fluff that takes a back seat to my choice of morals, standards, principles and priorities. If a man willingly chooses to forfeit the things that are most important to him and at the very center of his life, what good is he? If I choose to forego electing the candidate that I feel deep within my heart and mind is the best candidate regardless of his chances at winning, what good am I? What have I done at the end of the day besides proving that I am easily bought out when I should have stood firm with the hopes that someone somewhere might be inspired to stand up and do the same?
How can I expect my family to honor and respect me and what I stand for if they see me exhibit such hypocrisy and dis-loyalties to them, myself and my God? Simply put, I can’t. Don’t get me wrong and think that I don’t have empathy and even understanding for those who are still so easily manipulated and continue to play right into the hands of the elite who only allow the masses to vote because they know that, in the end, they still own the casino and the house always wins. I was not born “awake”, nor did I enter into adulthood “awake”. I’ve been there and I know what it’s like not to know what I don’t know. Problem was that I didn’t know that I didn’t know but there were some around me who could have probably woken me up sooner had they tried just a little bit harder and not been afraid of what others would think of them. You and I can be those kinds of people for those around us, but it takes patience, love and persistence. Time we don’t have much of anymore, but we can still do what we can do.
Coming back full circle to the lead into this article, we have stand firm and stand for what we believe in no matter the cost. Thankfully, the donkey and elephant (non)candidates make it easier for us to do just that. If you have found one within the two-party system that you strongly believe in- great! Vote for and promote them. If you have not, please, continue your search and do all you can to get them on your ballot if you still have a chance at doing so. I am a firm believer that we will one day have to give an accounting before God of all that we have/have not done and that includes how we vote in all of our governmental elections. A vote for a lesser-degree of evil is something that I don’t want on my head because it is still a vote for evil. Who’s side are we on?
